Percentage of Households in Public Housing with a Resident who has a Disability, 2016
The data in this map, from the 2017 US HUD Resident Characteristics Report, shows the percentage of all households living in public housing who have someone with a disability. A household can be 1) an individual living alone and 2) a family with a child/children. This includes elderly residents (age 62 and older) that may be living alone, with a spouse and/or with grandchildren. The percentage is based on the total number of all households in public housing. It is a larger proportion than the percentage based on total number of people shown in map 11 because there are many individuals with disabilities, which then count as one household.
Data source. 2016, HUD Resident Characteristics Report (RCR), October, 2016 Calculation. Summed percentage of households that are elderly with no children, elderly with children, non-elderly with no children and elderly with children.
